BBD&PA 2019 Photographic Books (Shortlisted) 21.11.19Buckland House This piece was a private commission by fine art photographer David Magee. David had already worked with Concentric Editions when publishing his book Outside, he wanted to utilise the very same unique collaborative approach, working method and production techniques to make another very special book. David Magee was comissioned to create a photostudy of the ancient trees in the grounds of the estate for the current owner. The twenty four resusulting images were produced as tritones and hand tipped onto debossed panels throughout the publication. There is a clear difference between a mass produced and a finely crafted book, one that is often lost in today's world. This monograph was meticulously finished and produced by hand in London, resulting in a single volume that is a piece of Fine Art in itself. |

Cartographic Colour: A Photographic Exhibition by Giles Revell 16.04.19Photographer Giles Revell’s series of images reinterpret the colours of well-known flowers, abstracting them to eliminate the distraction of form; petals and stems are reduced to accurate graphic examinations of the consistent hues. The images, first printed in Cartographic Colour, a book published by Concentric Editions, were photographed partly on site at RHS Wisley using live specimens, and partly in Revell’s studio using cut flowers, meaning the level of detail contained in the images is highly impactful. Now, the images will be displayed against the lush green backdrop of Crossrail Place Roof Garden, a tropical oasis in Canary Wharf from the 16th April until the end of May, traditionally the time for spring flowers, and Chelsea Flower Show. Printed as large format photographs and displayed around the garden the vibrancy of the images jump out of the foliage as you walk around. |

Paper Dolls Book Launch 09.11.18Hormazd Narielwalla Paper Dolls Concentric Editions & Sylph Editions is proud to announce the publication of Paper Dolls, a deliciously visual illustrated book on the cut-out collage artworks of artist Hormazd Narielwalla. Born in India and now living in London, with recent shows at Southbank Centre and the Royal Academy, Narielwalla has carved out his unique place on the contemporary art scene as the master puppeteer, instilling new life into paper shapes from the past through the creation of rich layers of meaning, symbolism and sublime abstract patterns of colour and form alike. The book brings together a collection of his signature abstract collage artworks on vintage sewing patterns, alongside a set of figurative self-portraits, where Narielwalla casts himself as a mysterious geisha. Inspired by an encounter in the streets of Soho, the artist finds himself delving into the mysteries and contradictions of identity in a multifarious world, and takes the viewer along, as he conjures up paper dolls, hidden gardens, people and portraits. |
